Social phobia is a severe impairment that paralyzes a person, or child. The anxiety that creates FEAR in the mind stops life–a functional life!
In the image above you see FEAR is a detour. TRUST is the straight path. But how difficult it is for a person with anxiety or social phobia to follow the straight path!
Trust does not come easily to the person with social phobia. Fear invades the mind, and the ability to be normal or happy. How can we overcome such a debilitating mental illness? Support from family and friends is the answer. Each family member or friend must recognize the illness, and focus their efforts on guiding and educating themselves and their loved one to follow the path to TRUST.
Love, patience and enabling a person or child with social phobia to trust are key elements in overcoming the illness, along with professional help.
